Ramsdens Cup Preview: It’s time to thrive against Threave!

Posted on Thursday, July 11th, 2013

We look forward to hosting Threave Rovers in Saturday’s Ramsdens Cup Preliminary Round.

It’s a great honour to be invited to play in the competition.  It’s been many years since Spartans played a two legged fixture (a prize on offer to the first correct answer on Twitter) so it’s tricky to know what type of game to expect.

Will it be cagey or like our game against the Castle Douglas men last season – full of excitement with loads of goals?  The carrot of a local derby at Palmerston against cup holders Queen of the South will certainly have caught the eye of the Threave fans and players alike.

We’ll be missing Keith McLeod and John Grant (when booking holidays back in the Winter no-one predicted a mid July competitive fixture!) but our six new signings came through Tuesday’s friendly unscathed and are looking forward to their first competitive game.

Kick off is 3pm and admission is a fan friendly £5 for adults and £3 for concessions with U/12’s FREE as the Club strives to bring affordable football into the community.  Unfortunately season tickets are not valid.  Our commemorative match day programme will cost £1.50.

It will be a cracking atmosphere with both teams keen to progress.  We look forward to welcoming you there.
