5 Star SundayOur 17s turned in a fantastic performance with a superb 5 – 0 win over Giffnock SC in the SYFA Scottish Cup final this afternoon at Airdrie. We started well and played some great passing football throughout the 90 minutes.Sean Stewart gave us the lead in five minutes and then Scott Irving had a penalty saved to minutes later. Giffnock hit the bar midway through the half with a great effort but the second goal came on the half hour when Jordan Brown drove a great left foot effort into the top corner. We continued to have most of the possession and two great finishes by Blair Atkinson doubled our lead. The final goal came from substitute Steven Havelin who ran through and finished very well. Giffnock were unlucky not to pull one back in the closing minutes but we defended well. The team are having a great season with a couple of cup finals to come plus the chance to win the league. Team: Callum Speedie, Kerr Allan (Kyle Doig), Harry Oliff (Daniel McIvor), Duncan Player, David Scobie, Sean Stewart (Elliott Carruthers), Scott Irving, Jamie Dishington, Blair Atkinson (Steven Havelin) Andrew Mair, Jordan Brown (Bruce Scott) Our Women’s team also won 5 – 0. It was goalless at half time but five second half goals gave us our biggest win of the season. The goals came from Kirsty McLaughlin 2, Claire Crosbie, Di Barry and Ellis Jenkins. |
