Cup successes

The Amateurs had a fantastic win on penalties against Sandy’s in R1 of the Challenge Cup yesterday. Nick Reid put us ahead but Andy Hornell picked up a red card for retaliation on the half hour mark. We went 3 – 1 down but late goals from Garth Fitzsimons and Jamie Campbell put the game into extra time. Three penalty saves from ‘keeper Ross burns saw us win 3 – 0 on penalties.
Our 14s had a great 6 – 2 win at home to Dryburgh from Dundee in the last 16 of the Scottish Youth FA Cup today. Before this season no Spartans youth team had reached the last 8 of any of the Scottish Cups and the 14s join the 17s who play their quarter final in Ayr next Saturday.
