Seniors win tough encounter

Posted on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

After a scrappy opening period we took the lead just after 10 minutes when Willie Bremner headed home a very good Gary Cannazerro cross. We then dominated and after missing several openings Chris Anderson notched the second from a Keith McLeod cut back. Willie again and Mark Whatley both came close as our powerful play was dominating. The quality of our delivery into the box was very good and the Tynecastle goalie was keeping them in the game. However just on half time a mix up at the back gave Butler a chance to pull one back and he finished well.

Tynecastle started the second half well as our defence took time to adjust to the very low sun. Hesitation allowed Butler to equalise and after our first half domination it was now mostly Tynecastle who were on top. The game had turned on its head and Tynecastle had an effort chalked off for offside as were struggling to hold onto the ball. By midway through the half we were beginning to get more of the ball and then took the lead again. A great run and cross from Willie was bulleted into the net by Keith. Tynecastle then had their no. 6 sent off for a second yellow as we began to have more control. Andy Martin slipped home a Chris through ball to make it 4 – 2 and complete the scoring. Andy had looked offside which incensed the Tynecastle team and their number 5 was sent off a minute later as their enthusiasm bubbled over.

The Spartans Malt and Hops Man of the Match was Willie Bremner who rampaged through the game from his advanced midfield position.
