Heart break

Posted on Saturday, September 8th, 2012

In the best game seen at the Academy since we opened we lost 7 – 6 on penalties after a 4 – 4 draw last night. It was mostly a 1st XI squad and it took two goals from Hearts in the last 5 minutes to ate the game to penalties including the final one n the 93rd minute. Jack Beesley opened the scoring n the 10th minute with a lob after being put through by Jordan Finnie. Neil McCuish then scored his first for the club with a hook shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. Hearts were coming more int the game and Smith equalised just before the break. We started the second half superbly. Andy Martin stormed onto a Chris Anderson pass to drive the ball home. Ryan Stevenson pulled one back with 15 to go but then the best goal of the game was scored by Sean Wringe a minute later. A great passing move involving Jordan and Chris saw Sean slide the ball into the net. Hearts came on strongly in the final minutes. Taouil scored with a great 25 yard effort and the San Nicholson bundled the ball home from close range. Some great penalties were scored before our youngster Peter Mair had his saved but then Chris Flockhart saved a Hearts effort. Sean Wringe had his effort saved before the winner was netted. A crowd of 1200 enjoyed the action, Jordan Finnie winning the Malt and Hops man of the match.
