A Whirlwind Week 1

Posted on Monday, June 18th, 2012

First of all I want to start by saying thanks to everyone for making Zorro and I feel so welcome this past week.  It’s a real honour for both of us to be appointed at the helm of this great Football Club.  The chance to lead this Club forward into a new era is such an exciting opportunity, is one we will both enjoy and relish.  It’s safe to say that the journey has well and truly started.  I’m delighted with just how well re-signing talks have gone in the last week.  Numerous players have had offers to move on, to make more money elsewhere, however, they stayed which speaks volumes about their desire and appetite to be a part of a new era.  I’m really looking forward to working with top players – people such as Sivewright, Manson and MacLeod – players I’ve admired from afar for years and respect a great deal.  They are and will be great role models for our younger players desperate to emulate the kind of success these players have helped to deliver in recent times.  On the player front, in addition to retaining most of our players, we have made 2 new signings – Mark Whatley and Willie Bremner will be joining us from Tayport and Leith Athletic respectively.  I’m excited at the prospect of what both can bring to the squad (as and when we have others to announce I’ll let you know). Week 1 was a real whirlwind, there’s so much to do, to put in place, however, it’s been a great start, a positive start and in some ways, the best possible start….everyone is hungry, on the same page and determined to deliver success.
