Mixed night in cup finalsOur Women’s team lost 5 – 1 to an excellent Glasgow City tonight in the League Cup final at Alloa. City were superb in the first half using the big pitch to great effect. They scored in the tenth minute but Louise Mason did have a chance to equalise but shot over. City had most of the possession and three goals before half time showed how strong they were. The second half was even with City scoring on the hour mark with Lana Clelland, the best Spartans player on the night, pulling ne back with a great drive. City set the benchmark for Scottish Women’s football and it gives us something to aim for.Our 17s beat Edinburgh City in the final of their League Cup in front of a crowd of 300 at the Academy. City were ahead at half time but goals from Peter Mair and Elliot Mitchell sealed our win although it took a penalty save from Mark Horsburgh with five minutes to go to seal the victory. |
