Senior team management changes – Mike and Sam leaving

Posted on Monday, May 28th, 2012

After eleven seasons as the co-managers of our Senior team Mike Lawson and Sam Lynch have left their positions.

They have probably been the most successful management team ever in East of Scotland League history, indeed perhaps even across all of Scottish non league football. They have won 6 league titles and 22 other competitive cup competitions. In addition they twice led us to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup. Before Mike joined, Sam had been co-manager with Colin Campbell and Derick Rodier and during this six year spell he won one league title plus a further six cups. Sam and Mike did a truly magnificent job and on behalf of everyone at Spartans can I say a massive thank you and well done. They have played an integral role in making us what we are today.

With the pyramid system in Scottish football looking like it is two seasons away it is the start of a new era for us at Spartans. We need to build a team capable of excelling in the Lowland League from 2014/15 and our Youth programme will be a critical element.

The Executive now has the very difficult role of finding replacement(s) for Mike and Sam and that process starts now. Naturally it may take a little time.

Mike and Sam are winners and it has been a fantastic journey working with them. Their commitment has been superb and they can rightly be so proud of what they have achieved.
