Two disappointing defeatsBoth the Seniors and Juniors lost today. The opening 20 minutes of the Seniors game saw us well on top but Only a couple of half chances to show for lots of possession. Sean Wringe came closest after a great turn but his effort was blocked by the City ‘keeper. On the half hour mark City took the lead when Ross Guthrie unleashed a 30 yard effort which into the top corner. City took heart from the goal and scored two more before the break, both from Robbie Ross. Firstly a good far post header and then a great curling effort. We had most of the possession again in the second half but City’s 5 – 4 – 1 formation made it difficult for us to break down. Omar Kader had the best chance in the second half when his close range effort hit the bar when it looked easier to score. Gavin Malin pulled one back with ten minutes remaining but City held out comfortably. Good luck to City in the final. Gavin Malin won the Malt and Hops man of the match for giving us real impetus when he came on but it was just too late. Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Hoskins, Sivewright, McKinnon, Kader, Anderson (Beesley 65), Grant (Malin 65), Wringe (Beesley 65), McLeod, Manson Subs not used Veitch, Donnelly The Juniors went down 5 – 0 to league leaders Dalkeith. It was an even opening 30 minutes before Dalkeith scored but they looked like promotion candidates as they powered home in the second half. |
