Management thoughts on The Uni game yesterdayMike says –“We wiz robbed!!” No we weren’t Michael, the team who deserved to win took the 3 points. “What about our penalties?” Even after the “collision” and the hand ball we were 2 goals to the good at home Michael and should have won from there. “But we missed Keith McLeod and John Grant” Yes, and we missed Alex King and Jimmy Rae and John Bird too. Look – Danny O’Donnell and Chris Anderson have started most of our games this season so there was nothing wrong with out starting 11. In fact Danny laid on the first goal and Chris scored the second. “But Danny had to go off!” Jack Beesley was a regular before his injury so stop bleating about the team. And before you say it – Jordan Finnie has come off the bench 21 times this season so there was nothing wrong (or weak) about the team over the 90 minutes. The bottom line is that when you make a sloppy challenge from behind in the box and give the ball away twice in central midfield you can’t complain if the opposition take advantage and that’s what Edinburgh University did. End of. I’ve said two things on here and in my programme notes many times this season. One is that on any given day any team can beat any other in our competitive division. Secondly, despite our points total this league race has always had a long way to go. Gretna and Stirling (and Whitehill and everyone else in EOS football) will be as happy as Sammy and his boys after yesterday’s result. For us a battle has been lost but the war is far from over. We’ll lick our wounds, clear our heads and look forward to Stirling next week and some regular Saturday football again.” Mike |
