South Challenge Cup update

Posted on Thursday, January 19th, 2012

We have decided not to appeal the decision to expel us from the South Challenge Cup.
Chairman Craig Graham adds “This was a difficult decision taken after careful consideration.
Unlike the Scottish Cup SFA Judicial Panel the committee could have determined a lesser sanction given that there had only been a minor omission from one of the forms lodged with the SFA. A replayed tie against Lothian Thistle would have been a fairer sanction.
Based on the hearing we had at the initial SFA panel we were confident of winning a reprieve should we have decided to appeal, an appeal which would have been heard by another of the Judicial Panels at Hampden.
We also had to consider that if we had won an appeal and gone on to be successful in the competition then it would perhaps have been devalued by this saga.
We also want to support EOS and SOS football administrators at a time when everyone at our level is working well together to restructure Scottish football for the better, with many clubs pushing forward to become licensed clubs as soon as possible.
We wish all the teams remaining in the competition the very best of luck.”
