We drew 1 – 1 against a young but physical Hearts XI today at the Academy in front of a crowd of just over 270. We started well and Jordan Finnie had an effort blocked before Dean Hoskins had a great free kick superbly saved. Hearts were passing the ball well and took the lead on 35 minutes when Sam Nicholson cut in from the left wing and slotted the ball home. Hearts controlled the remainder of the half as we struggled to retain possession.
We played better in the second half and came closest to equalising when Jack Beesley in his first outing for 3 months saw the Hearts ‘keeper again pull off a fine save. The equaliser came in the 60th minute when Jack’s floating free kick was headed in by Dean Hoskins. We had the better chances as both teams kept in pushing forward. Omar Kader came closest after a superb run from the right back position ended with another save from the ‘keeper.
Team: Flockhart (McTurk 72), Sclater (Atkinson 72), Fusco, Seeley, Hoskins, Dodds, Kader, Anderson, McLeod, Calum Donnelly (Rusin 72), Finnie (Beesley 45).
