Management thoughts on our game against Stirling UniversityMike says –“It’s not quite the “Big One” but it’s definitely a big, big game tomorrow between the only two unbeaten teams in the Premier Division. Since joining the East of Scotland leagues a few seasons ago, Stirling University have used the resources at their disposal to recruit a number of young ex senior players from all over Britain and abroad and in so doing have improved the quality of our leagues as a whole. Along with Gretna 2008 they have been a breath of fresh air and both have steadily reached the top of the pile. This season Raleigh Gowrie and Stevie Burchill have put together a squad well capable of competing for our Premier Division title. A week last Sunday I saw Stirling defeat Gretna to win the Alex Jack Cup and I was very impressed with the students that day. The have added a few new faces to their squad but there are still some who are “well kent”. We are well acquainted with Jason Atkins and James Drummond in the centre of their defence while up front new comer Chris Geddes is a goal machine. In between captain and playmaker Robert Pearson pulls the strings in an impressive midfield. Yes, Stirling are a very good side and we’ll have to be at our best tomorrow. Dean Hoskins misses the next two games so Scott Fusco comes in at left back. Jack Beesely and Chris Smith are still unavailable so the squad will be on similar grounds to last week. We played well against Lothian for most of the game last Saturday but tomorrow we’ll have to be at the top of out game for 90 minutes. 3.00 Saturday can’t come quick enough.” Mike |
