Management thoughts on a good run out yesterdayMike says –“As my title suggests I thought it was a really good run out yesterday played at a good pace and with both teams playing a lot of excellent football. Clyde had more of the ball first half and we went in one up. We had more of the ball second half and Clyde scored twice. That’s football. I never like to lose any game of football but could live with yesterday only because it was a bounce game. Had that been a Scottish Cup game I’d have headed for the Dean Bridge on the final whistle. It was slightly similar to our last two Scottish Cup games against SFL opposition (East Stirling and Forfar) where we had more chances but the “league” side were more clinical. I happen to think our players are better than that and are capable of converting a higher ratio of the chances they create and that is the only disappointment of the whole exercise. Sam took the opportunity to cast a first half eye over Tynie verses Lothian (out next two opponents) yesterday and I’ll give the Spartans “Lunch” a miss today and get a look at Stirling Uni who we play in three weeks. Stirling have already defeated Whitehill twice this season and as the “new starts” from last year’s intake mature both physically and mentally as footballers, Raleigh’s boys are proving they are going to be a real threat this time round. We know how good a team Gretna can be on their day so it looks like being a cracker at the Pennypit. With our participation in the Challenge Cup still under debate the Premier League Title is top of our priorities. Tynie, Lothian then Stirling are all in the league and are huge games before our winter break. Finally, well done Culter. They are a great wee club run by good people. What a brilliant result.” Mike |
