Seniors win dramatic game, Juniors crash out of Cup and Amateurs win well

The Seniors beat Leith Athletic 5 – 4 in the league this afternoon in a match which was certainly the game of the season so far.
Leith were 4 – 1 ahead at half time and deservedly so. They took the lead in the 20th minute when Tainsh headed home a corner. The Leith second was a great free kick from their right back and the third came from the penalty spot when Dean Hoskins pushed the Leith right winger in the box. We immediately changed to a 4 4 2 formation and Kerr Dodds pulled one back from just outside the box after good work from Keith Mcleod in the 35th minute. However in the very next minute poor defending meant Leith went three goals ahead again.
Leith were very good in the first half however it was all to change in the second 45. Kerr Dodds scored with another raking drive six minutes into the half. On came Donal Henretty and Danny O’Donnell for Scott Fusco and Chris Anderson as we pushed forward. The third came midway through the half when Donal’s cross was headed home by Keith. Two minutes later Omar Kader was tripped in the box but Gavin’s penalty was close to the ‘keeper and he saved it. With time running out Jordan Finnie came on for Gavin and with five minutes to go Dean’s cross was flicked on by Keith and Omar bundled it in at the far post. A slip by Danny then gave Leith’s Coleman a golden opportunity but Chris Flockhart produced an excellent save down to his right. There were two minutes left when we scored the winner. Robbie Manson now playing as a right winger put over a great cross and Keith headed home to the biggest cheer of the season since Man Utd were our visitors. The Malt and Hops Man of the Match was won by Kerr Dodds. He picked up a yellow card but his will to win and two goals drove us on when it was looking bleak.
Team: Flockhart, Fusco (O’Donnell 64), Hoskins, Sivewright, McKinnon, Kader, McLeod, Manson, Dodds, Malin (Finnie 82), Anderson (Henretty 64) Subs not used: Seeley, Smith
The Juniors went down agonisingly 5 – 4 on penalties. We were two goals up away to Glentanar in the Scottish Cup through a Sean Wringe double and Glentanar were down to ten men. They however rallied and equalised with five minutes to go.
The Saturday Amateurs had a fine 3 – 1 win over Edinburgh University with goals from Andy Hornell 2 and Jimmy Clelland.
