Management thoughts on a hard earned win at Saughton Enclosure today

“I hope Culter sent someone down to watch us today because that has to be our worst performance of the season so far and they will have headed back up north with a very false impression of what we are all about. LTHV played very well and without the harsh sending off they would probably have won the game. Football is all about “ifs” and “buts” however and they did get Ritchie Wilkes sent off at 0-0 and Gavin scoring the resultant penalty should have decided the game. It didn’t and it looked like we were heading for extra time when Gavin completed his hat-trick and scored his 8th goal in 7 starts from midfield since his return from China. Since joining us a few years back his return from midfield is more that a goal every other game which is a stat’ most strikers would be proud of.

We’ll be better next Saturday. We’ll have to be better next Saturday or we’ll be out the Scottish Cup. No excuses today but Saughton Enclosure like the last time we played there is the greatest advert for converting to a 3G surface artificial pitch manufacturers  could have. Ali MacKinnon was unavailable, Scott Fusco took ill and called off minutes before the start and both Kerr Dodds and Donal Henretty had to leave the field through injury with less than a hour on the clock. At this moment we don’t know who’ll be fit and available for Culter but we’ll lick our wounds, count the bodies during the week and head up north to give it our best shot. We’ll need to at our best but we all know the Scottish Cup Saturday’s are special and I’m sure we’ll rise to the occasion.”
