Share of the points at Peffermill

Posted on Saturday, October 1st, 2011

The Seniors were left disappointed to leave Peffermill with just a single point today against Edinburgh University.

The game was frantic and fast paced however with limited clear chances for either team.

We took the lead in the 21st minute. Great control by Gavin Malin saw him send Omar Kader through, however he was tripped in the box and a penalty was given. Malin put the ball on the spot and fired home a low hard shot to give us the lead.

We had a few other half chances but were unable to create any clear goal scoring chances.

Into the second half and we initially started well. Omar Kader and Kerr Dodds both had shots at goal before the University scored the equaliser with a brilliant couter attack strike. From a Spartan attak the ball was cleared to Cyrus Moosavi who ran from the half way line and rifled a shot into the top right corner, giving Chris Flockhart no chance.

The Uni keeper made a couple of excellent saves to prevent Donal Henretty and Kerr Dodds from scoring and the game ended 1-1. A fair result given the performances of both teams.

Today’s game also marked the 300th appearance for Keith McLeod. A truly epic achievement for a wonderful player and a legend within the club. Sadly not the result Keith would have wanted today however we know he will play and score in many more victorys to come.

Malt and Hops Man of the Match: Kerr Dodds, an excellent performance from Kerr who battled all afternoon before having to be subbed due to a facial injury.

Team: Flockhart, O’Donnell, Hoskins, Sivewright, McKinnon, Malin (Finnie), Kader, Manson, Anderson, Dodds (McLeod), Henretty
