Management thoughts on Airdrie this evening.Mike says –“There were a lot of things to be pleased about tonight; very pleased about but my head will hit the pillow thinking about the four goals we conceded. As a team we are losing too many goals. I don’t care if it was an SFL side – I wasn’t happy losing seven goals to Manchester United. At the first no-one attacked an aimless cross; for the second we had three marking one on the half-way line before the run through and the penalty; the third was the result of a mix up between two players (they know who they are) and the fourth was the result of a needlessly given away free kick. As a team we have to grow up, be much more professional and not give the opposition an easy route to our goal. OK – rant over. It was good to see Kerr Dodds and Cloudie back. We passed the ball well on the slick surface and there were many passages of good play from us. Everybody got at least 45 minutes on a surface we will grow used to and the signs are we will relish. All the fringe players did well and young Iain was composed and confident in goals for the second half. Although there were storm warnings all day and both teams played through wind and driving rain it was a very good game to watch for the 20 or so spectators in the main stand. Playing football at a good pace against quality opposition beats training. We now look forward to Saturday and Gretna again. Down there a week last Saturday we had a 15 minute spell where everything we hit ended up flying into the net (apart from Beezer’s of course). No two games of football against the same team are the same and Sam and I will remind the players of that on Thursday. Gretna are a good side, no a very good side and we start preparing for Raydale now. More on that game later in the week.” Mike |
