Ross moves on and another friendly arrangedRoss Archibald has signed for his local team BonnyrIgg Rose in the East Region Junior Super League. Ross has made nearly 200 appearances for Spartans and scored over 40 goals. Last season he won both the EoS Player of the Year and Top goalscorer. He’s been a fantastic servant and moves on with our very best wishes. Ross said “I only intend playing at this level for a couple more years and with Bonnyrigg I get the chance to play in a highly competitive league at some new venues for me. I’ve had two superb spells at Spartans and I look forward to being around the Academy when I can, indeed I look forward to helping out at one of the soccer schools for a week in the Summer”. Co-manager Mike Lawson said “Ross will be a tough to replace but we have an excellent squad, have made a couple of exciting signings and have good youngsters who deserve a chance. We are almost there with our squad although we are unsure what will happen with Alex King. As many of you know Alex was expecting to do pre-season with a full time SFL team however his knee is still bothering him so it’s unclear what will happen. Pre-season starts today and we will have a couple of potential new acquisitions with us.” Chairman Craig Graham added “Ross has been a great servant and you never know we might see him back in a Spartans jersey one day. With no promotion to the SFL possible we will always lose really great players seeking new challenges however Mike and Sam have built probably three teams in the last ten years so we’re sure we’ll do so again and be challenging for honours this season. Season ticket sales are going well and we’ll be looking for our fans to play their part”.One more pre-season game for the calendar, we play Forfar Athletic away in Tuesday 12th June. |
