Management thoughts on our League Cup game tomorrow.Mike says –“No two games of football are ever the same. No two games of football against the same opposition played a few days apart turn out the same. I guess I’m saying don’t expect the same performance from either team tomorrow evening nor the same result. Michael Renwick and his players will be hurting after Saturday. They spent a long time in a locked dressing room after Saturday’s game dissecting the 90 minutes they had just played. Well the room wasn’t locked but it might as well have been as no one entered of exited the Away Dressing Room until what has to be said between a manager and his players had been said. I expect a tighter game this evening. The other results mean it’s all or burst on Saturday for Heriot-Watt against Stirling University in their last league game and their manager may be forgiven for saving some of his troops for the last big push. Michael also knows an improved performance against ourselves will help build confidence and put his players in the right frame of mind against their fellow students. Sam and I are honest enough to admit we have the King Cup Final at Falkirk stadium a week on Wednesday on our minds. That doesn’t mean we’ll field a weakened team tomorrow or Saturday, it only mean we won’t take undue chances with players carrying knocks or injuries. We’ll wait until the last minute with Keith McLeod, Danny O’Donnell and Donal Henretty before deciding whether to chance them. Andrew Sinclair and Jordan Finnie will return to Under 19 training (before their big second leg semi final) and two other youngsters will join the first team squad. Stewart Fowlie will also be available and we will check on the availability of Mark Burns and Jonathan Seeley before working out our team and subs. We can still win every domestic piece of East of Scotland silverware and that is our aim starting by progressing in the League Cup tomorrow. Get yourself down to the Academy and watch us try.” Mike |
