Management thoughts on the King Cup semi this afternoon

“1.30 am and I’m back in Edinburgh. My understanding wife and boys know there’s an important couple of games coming up so they’ll follow me home next Wednesday.

Having missed the rearranged WW game I wasn’t going to miss either Edinburgh Uni this afternoon or Berwick on Tuesday.

First things first and what a season Sammy and his boys are having. After losing 2 or 3 very important graduating players Sammy will have had some sleepless nights over the summer wondering how things would pan out this time round. A top three league finish, a British Uni Cup Final at Bramwell Lane to look forward to and the chance to dump the league champions out of the King Cup at the semi final stage. We are getting a lot of praise at the moment but this Uni side and their management team have had a wonderful season.

I’ve still to catch up on everything our side but I know Alex King will probably miss the rest of the season which is a blow for the club but a bigger blow for a quality guy who plays the game from the heart. We’ll really miss Wee Eck over the coming weeks and tomorrow Donal is also unavailable making us thankful Omar and Danny come back into the squad.

Sam and I will finanize the team in the morning and I’m really looking forward not only to the game but shaking the hand of each and every Spartans player after Wednesday’s result. Once that’s done it’s back to the matter of trying to win some more silverware which won’t be easy. Sammy and his boys will make sure of that.”
