Seniors only team to record win

Posted on Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

The Seniors against Whitehill in Round 3 of the King Cup started with the same XI who started the cup final last Sunday and had the best of early exhanges.  It was no surprise when we took the lead after ten minutes, Omar Kader knocking home a great Dean Hoskins cross.  We created better chances but Whitehill were committed and making life tough.  The second half folowed a similar pattern…Gavin Malin, Ross Archibald and Keith Mcleod could all have scored before Whitehill equalised with a deflected effort with 15 minutes to go.  The hosts tails were up and it was end to end play for the remainder of the 90 minutes.  The first half of extra time was even but in the last period we really dominated with Keith again then and Alex King both missing what seemed straight forward chances.  Penalties it was and we were second to take.  They scored their first three but so did Alex, Keith and Deano.  Caddow then missed for Whitehill and David Etale scored for us.  Whitehill scored their fifth but Chris Townsley drove home the winning kick.  We now play Edinburgh Uni in the semi final.  The Malt and Hops man of the match going to Dean Hoskins.  Team: Flockhart, Archibald, Hoskins, Townsley, Sivewright, King, Manson, Kader (Etale 75), Malin (O’Donnell 70), Beesley (Henretty 70), McLeod Subs not used: McGarrie, Fowlie

The Juniors went down 2 – 1 to West Calder Utd in a league fixture at the Academy.  Defensive lapses saw us two down at half time and although a Paul Roberts goal brought us back to life we couldn’t net another. Team: Paterek, Hair, Waddell, Cruickshank, Ewart, Reid, Shanks (Nicolaudis 60), Smith, Bannon, Perry, Roberts Subs not used: Stewart, Leask

The Amateurs came back from two goals down at half time away to Lochend to draw 2 – 2 with goals from Adam Scheinewck and Cammy Clark.  We ended the game with two players in hospital after some shocking antics from the opposition.  One of the incidents was reported to the police, quite simply this type of behaviour has no place in football.
