Management thoughts on anything but a Stroll.

Mike says –

“The score-line might look emphatic but last night was anything but a stroll against Civil Service. Sam and I began to relax after our third in 66 minutes but Strollers pulled one back putting them on the ascendancy again and it was only when Archie got his second 10 minutes from the end that I took an uncustomary seat in the home dug-out.

The rain had helped the pitch and despite being frustrated most of the first half by an organised defence Sam and I were happy with our performance at the break especially having made 4 changes to Sunday’s starting line-up. Strollers had to open up a bit in the second half allowing us to push forward our advantage. We were hardly taking a chance bringing in Danny, Stewart, David and Donal but we know that Cloudie, Gav, Jack and Omar will benefit from the rest either on Saturday or next Tuesday.

Once again the other league scores went our way meaning mathematically only 6 teams can win the league although The Vale would require us to lose our last 7 games and overturn a goal difference of 39. Stirling, Edinburgh Uni and Whitehill can all reach a 45 points total while Tynecastle are now our biggest rivals being able to amass 46 points should they win all their games. It’s firmly in our hands though and the sooner we cross the line the sooner we can concentrate on some of the Cups.

Back to last night and as well as all 4 “newcomers” playing well and it was good to give Chris Smith and Jordan Finnie some more game time. Sam and I have a pleasant headache picking a team for Saturday but more on that tomorrow.”
