The Seniors beat Vale of Leithen 3 – 1 in a hard fought Soth Regional Challenge Cup semi final today, the Juniors beat Harthill 5 – 1  and the  Amateurs beat Linlithgow 2 – 0 both in league games.

The Seniors went a goal down in the first minute when Dean Hoskins brought down Radzinski and Doohan scored from the spot.  It took us a while to get going before Alex King scored a great goal after ten minutes picking the ball up at the half way line, beating two players and slotting it home from the edge of the box.  Omar Kader was the next to come close but their ‘keeper forced him wide.  The remainder of the half saw neither team getting on top, we had most of the possession but Vale looked good on the break.  It took five minutes of the second half for us to take the lead.  Dean’s free kick was won by Chris Townsley for Keith McLeod to knock against the post but the rebound fell to Ross Archibald who drove the ball home.  We were more in control and both Gavin Malin and Alex King came close.  Vale then had a player send off  for an off the ball challenge on Omar.  There was tewnty to go when Gavin put the game in doubt when his left foot drive beat the ‘keeper after being put through by Keith.  The malt and hops man of the match going to Chris Townsley.  Edinburgh City beat Threave Rovers 2 – 0 in the other semi-final.  Team: Flockhart, Archibald, Townsley, Sivewright, Hoskins, Kader, Beesley (Etale 71), Malin, McLeod, Manson (O’Donnell 80), King Subs not used: Smith, McGarrie, Finnie

Stewart Fowlie lined up for the Juniors to give him pitch time but it was harthill who took the lead in ten moiuntes.  We enjoyed nearly all the possession before Neil Ewart deaded home a Glen Waddel corner for his first goal for Spartans.  The second half goals coming from Gary Bannon, Rees Smith, Nick Reid and Paul Roberts.  There were also debuts in the second half for Gregg Atkinson and Kevin Hamilton  from our Under 17 team.  Team: Paterek, Hair, Ewart, Fowlie, McKibben, Reid, Waddel (Stewart 60), Perry, Bannon (Atkinson), Smith (Hamilton), Roberts Sub not used Nixon

The Amateurs saty at the top of the league with their 2 – 0 win, Iain Cartwright and Abs al Gherbia.
