Management thoughts on our King Cup game against Ormiston.

Mike says –

“Ormiston come to the Academy to play us with nothing to lose and all to gain. We are expected to win and that takes all the pressure off Murray Cheyne and his players. We have two very important Premier league games coming up in the next six days against Lothian and Whitehill and will changes things around a bit for our King Cup tie. One or two players are carrying injuries and knocks which would make it remiss of Sam our myself playing them against Ormiston. Murray isn’t daft and will use that to motivate his players. “Cloudie’s not stripped, they’ve rested Tom, Dick and Harry – they aren’t taking this seriously – get into them” I don’t really know about Murray but that’s what I’d be saying if I was the Ormiston manager.

That makes it interesting. The fact that Ormiston have already beaten Whitehill 4-1 in a cup tie this season makes it even more interesting. That and the fact they drew 3-3 with run away First Division leaders Leith Athletic at the weekend makes it trebly interesting. Sam and I have faith in each and every member of our squad and no matter who takes to the field against Ormiston we will be preaching “respect” before the game. We’ve both been in the game long enough to know that anything can happen over 90 minutes in a game of football and we (that’s the Spartans players) have to be ready for all eventualities.

Danny O’Donnell is the only player unavailable through injury. As I’ve said above we’ll rest Cloudie and one or two others but that doesn’t mean we won’t be out to win the game. We are the holders of the King Cup and we want to retain our trophy.  Barca v Arsenal is now history – get down to the Academy for a real cup tie.”
