Seniors reach final but Juniors and Amateurs go downThe Seniors beat Selkirk 3 – 1 to reach the final of the Image Printers Cup. Alex King had a strain and was only fit for the bench so Gavin Malin dropped back into centre midfield with Omar Kader in as a central striker. In the first half we had enough chances to win more than one game. Donal Henretty and Omar both hit the woodwork and Keith McLeod and Omar both missed a couple of point blank chances to the amazement of the crowd. It took only three minutes of the second half for the opener to come, Chris Townsley nodding home a Dean Hoskins free kick. Selkirk were tidy on the ball but it was no surprise when the second came. A good move saw Keith lay off the ball to Gavin to stroke home from the edge of the box. Selkirk pulled one back with 15 to go from close range and won a few corners to put us under pressure the minutes ticked away. With two minutes to go however the win was sealed when Ross Archibald across with a cross cum shot from the touchline. The final will be against Tynecastle who beat Whitehill Welfare in the other semi final. The Malt and Hops man of the match went to Dean Hoskins for his pin point deliveries. Team: Flockhart, Archibald, Hoskins, Sivewright, Townsley, Kader, McLeod (Finnie 75), Henretty, Beesley (Smith 70), Manson, Malin Subs not used: McGarrie, King, FowlieThe Juniors went down 3 2 to Stoneyburn. Rees Smith hit the bar early on but Stoneyburn scored twice just before half time. Paul Roberts pulled one back but ‘Burn scored again midway through the half. Nick Reid scored our second with a good header in the final minute. Team: Paterek, Cruickshank, Seeley, McCathie, McKibben (Stewart), Hair (Perry), Preston, Scott (Mitchell), Reid, Roberts, Smith The Amateurs went down 2 0 to Redhall Star in a cup game, Redhall are in the league above us and deserved their win. |
