Management thoughts on our post Christmas game against Easthouses.Mike says –“We will play Easthouses Lily on Monday 27th December on the Field Turf with a 2.00 Kick Off. It will hopefully keep our touch in and get rid of some of the Christmas pudding I’m sure one or two of the boys will be having over the next couple of days. After a slow start where suspensions caused them problems Davie McQueenie has his side handily sitting third in the First Division and ready for a promotion push should we ever get back to the serious stuff again. We have one or two missing through visiting family and friends at Christmas which isn’t a problem in what is really a Festive break for two weeks. The problem for the team and East of Scotland football as a whole is that the two week break has turned into a prolonged winter shutdown. I know from reading one of the Fans Forums that our (the EOS) fixture secretary has us down for the most possible outstanding games (29) and I know that he’s pencilled in 3 mid-week fixtures on the Academy grass pitch. The first of those isn’t until 1st March because of possible adverse weather I suppose, but it makes you wonder why we can’t play competitive games on the Academy Field Turf. We played Forfar Athletic on it last Saturday and will play on it the next two Mondays but as yet we’ve never played a competitive match on it. Now I know there are regulations about registered home parks which would have to be sorted out and that the opposition would have to be in agreement but some day common sense will prevail, hopefully. At least 4 SFL sides play on Field Turf and we have the luxury of being able to play on either. A nice wee stand on the Ainslie Park Centre banking would do nicely Craig/Santa!!! I guess I’m too late to write my letter. Anyway have a great Christmas and we’ll hopefully see one or two of you at the Academy on Monday.” Mike |
