Management thoughts on the “top of the table” clash tomorrow.Mike says –“What an incentive for Stirling tomorrow. If they beat us they go top of the Premier League table for the first time in their history. Well not really as they were top on the first day of the season having scored six goals before we visited them four days later allowing Edinburgh Uni the top spot for a number of weeks. Still nothing is read into being top of the league on the first day but seven or eight games in and everybody sits up and takes notice. As I’ve been saying for months now Stirling are here to stay and will be a big influence in East of Scotland football for years to come. Raleigh, Stevie and Ian have put together an excellent squad of players and it’s not often we look at the table to see a team having scored four goals more than us after the same amount of games. The incentive is there for them tonight as they face their first real examination as students this season. Omar Kader wont make it tomorrow and we’re assuming it’s asking too much for Keith McLeod to drive all the way back up from London and pull on a Spartans top should his job finish early. On a happier note both David Etale and Danny O’Donnell were able to train last night and will be considered for action. With us being two players down Andrew Sinclair and Jordan Finnie have been added to our small squad and at least one will make the bench. We know the Under 19’s have several talented players but as Jordan and Andrew have trained with us a few times lately they will be involved tomorrow and will both travel up to Keith with us a week on Saturday. We will need at least one of them to cover the Scottish Cup under 21 rule along with Chris Smith. Tomorrow is a huge game for both Stirling and ourselves and we will have to be at our very best to stay on top of the pile. These are the sort of games players and management teams really look forward to. May the best team win.” Mike |
