Mixed Sunday Scottish Cup action

Posted on Sunday, October 10th, 2010

Our EoS 19s went out of the Scottish Youth Cup, losing 3 – 2 to Montrose at the Academy. The Sunday Amateurs managed a 3 – 0 win over Star A in their tie.

The 19s came up against a better footballing team. Two early goals from their excellent striker Martin Boyle gave them a 2 – 0 lead by the half hour mark. Stephen McGinn pulled one back just before the half time whistle. Montrose’s third goal was an own goal from Lewis Kidd but Scott Hunter’s penalty brought it back to 3 – 2. We threw everything at the Montrose defence in the last ten minutes and should have scored when Kidd hit the post but the better footballing team won on the day.

Goals from Jonny Niven, Paul Cameron and Mal Leask gave the Sunday Amateurs a good win and into the third roudn draw. Manager Kenny Cameron was delighted, “it was our best performance of the season”.
