Winning SaturdayWins for both the Seniors and Juniors.The Seniors rounded off our league campaign with a 1 – 0 win over Whitehill Welfare at Rosewell to win the league by a record breaking margin. We had the bulk of the possession in the first half but couldnt open the scoring, Ross Archibald coming closest after 30 minutes with a header saved at point black range by their ‘keeper. We didn’t keep the ball as well in the second half but continued to create chances. Ross again missed a header before he crossed for Keith McLeod to head home from 8 yards after 67 minutes. Their ‘keeper again came to the rescue when he leapt to keep out an Alex King effort but in the last ten minutes Whitehill put us under real pressure. Chris Flockhart blocked two efforts in close succession before the hit the crossbar in the final minute. Alex King picked up our man of the match award for a tireless effort in midfield. Team: Flockhart, Archibald, Fowlie (Hoskins 64), Gerrard, Sivewright, King, McAuley, Malin (Henretty 64), Kader, McLeod, Smith (O’Donnel 64) Sub not used: McGarrie The Juniors beat Stoneyburn 2 – 1 away to keep the pressure on Broxburn at the top of the table. Phil McKibben opened the scoring in the first half before Paul Sutherland, in his first start since January due to injury, headed home the second. Ollie Antoni then hit the post with a penalty before Stoneyburn pulled one back with ten minutes to go. Gary Young had to keep us ahead with a last ditch tackle as Stoneyburn threw players forward. Team: Paterek, Cruickshank (G Young), McKibben, Steele, Sutherland, Scott, Moffat, Antoni (Roberts), Bannon (Crolla), Reid, Preston Subs not used: Boyes, Hair, Robertson, Perry. The Juniors next game is our Fife and Lothians Cup quarter-final against Musselburgh Athletic who sit 5th in the Super League. The game is this Monday night (10th May) at the Academy. The Amatuers beat Whitburn 4 – 3 in a league game with goals from Douglas, Johnson, Ben Gharbia and McIntyre. |
