Cloudy reaches 250 appearances for Spartans

Keith McLeod should make his 250th appearance for Spartans tomorrow which is a magnificent milestone. We asked club Captain Stewart Fowlie for some thoughts on Cloudy:-

Keith McLeod has been at Spartans since before I joined the Club and I can remember playing against him as a student on a few occasions. Cloudy has never been a nice prospect for an opposing defender and it was a personal bonus to end up at the same Club.

In all the years that we have played together at Spartans Cloudy has been the leading goalscorer and one of the most trusted of team mates. His goal scoring record is unbelievable and must surely be unmatched in senior football. Furthermore he has managed this massive haul with two of the most oddly shaped feet in the business. I have never seen someone change boots during the match as often as Cloudy.

Keith has endured perennial injury problems for as long as I can remember but his dogged attitude and winning mentality have kept him playing at times when many others may have declared themselves unfit.

Nowadays this sometimes means light detail at training, which has been a plus for his fellow ‘old-yin’ who has had the pleasure of some head tennis – while the younger squad members complete some much needed running.

Being the modest guy he is Keith wouldn’t shout about this – but he certainly could have played at a much higher level had he so wished. He has certainly passed up numerous opportunities to go into league football over the years, preferring instead to seek adventure in the East of Scotland and beyond with The Spartans.

Cloudy is a true Spartan – a great guy to have in your team, a loyal servant to the club and a greatly respected player and friend.
