Winning Saturday

Posted on Saturday, November 14th, 2009

We consolidated our lead at the top of the division with a 6 – 3 win over Heriot Watt University at Ainslie Park.  Chris Flockhart was unavailable so in came Craig McGarrie for his debut.  Gavin Malin and Omar Kader started up front and their pace caused the Uni real problems.  Dean Hoskins opened the scoring with a fine drive before Alex King slid home a Gavin square ball.  The Uni pulled one back before three goals in ten minutes finished the game off.  Gavin  drove home the third, Omar then had a good strike from 12 yards before Gavin ran through following a quick free kick and tucked the ball under their ‘keeper.  The Uni scored again just before the break following some slack defending.  The Uni did play well in the second half to draw 1 – 1…Danny O’Donnell scoring our goal from two yards after a corner wasn’t cleared.  Jorge Vinelli and Luke Cassidy both made their debuts as secnd half substitutes and indeed Luke might have scored when he drove wide.  Dean Hoskins first half performance earning him the Man of the Match from match sponsor Mike Drabble
