Wins all roundThe first trophy of the season is in the bag. We did play better than Edinburgh Uni and deserved to win but three own goals in one match must be a record.Ross Archibald nodded home the first from a Robbie Manson pin point corner after 31 minutes. The second came bang on half time when Keith McLeod’s cross was deflected into the net by Scott Fusco. The second half was five minutes old when the third came – Alistair McKinnon heading another Manson corner into his own net. Alex King then scored the goal of the game with a rocket from the edge of the box before McKinnon again headed past his own keeper from a dangerous Archibald cross. Ross the completed the scoring from close range. Indeed Ross also won the Man of the Match award for an excellent performance from right back. Team: Flockhart, Archibald, O’Donnel, Gerrard, Fowlie, Kader (Malin 65), Manson, King, Henretty (Hoskins 75), McLeod (Preston 77), Walker Subs not used: Oplika, Hair. We’ll aim to get some photos on the website tomorrow. Our Women’s 1st XI had a big scare in their home league game against Boroughmuir winning 3 – 2 with a last minute goal from Louise Young. Two goals from Di Barry had put us 2 – 0 ahead but we were pegged back with two good goals. Sky Sports were at the Academy to cover the action and coach Shelley Kerr wasn’t too happy with the performance. Finally our 19s won 1 – 0 against Berwick Rangers in a league game played this morning at City Park – Paul Mshelbwala with the winner. |
