U19s Squad

Goalkeepers

Iain McTurk – Iain is currently in his second spell at the club. He previously captained his Spartans Colts team to two cup final wins and promotion at U13s. Iain re-joined Spartans at the beginning of this season.

Mark Horsburgh – Or ‘Sparky’ as he is better known. The quiet man of the team, but a strong shot stopper and always a calm and composed figure in goal.   


Defenders

Craig Newell (Centre half/right back) – Craig signed for the club in January 2012 after a spell at Cowdenbeath FC. He has started his time at Spartans brightly putting in consistent performances at both centre half and right back.

Kris Buchanan (Right back) – Having briefly left to ply his trade elsewhere, Kris returned at the beginning of the season and has established himself as a strong, reliable right back.

Martin Lackie (Centre Half) – In his first year at u19s, Martin is a vocal, commanding defender, always willing to learn and develop his game. Never not normally seen without Brad in tow, honing his skills at the Academy.

Alex Imlah (Right back/ Centre Half) – Signed from Gala mid season. Strong, commanding defender and continues to develop well within the u19s.

Peter Mair (Centre Half) – Previously with Hearts, Peter is a composed,reliable and quick centre half with a keen eye for goal.

Reece Cochrane (Left Back) – In his final year at u19s, Reece has establised himself as a solid and composed defender, whilst also being one of the more talented singers/dancers of the team. Never shy.

 


Midfielders

 

Lewis Hawkins (Centre half/centre mid) – The skipper is in his second season at Spartans having signed from Tynecastle Boys Club where he was also captain. He previously played for Rangers before breaking his leg as a youngster. Composed, talented midfielder.

Harvey MacKintosh (Left Midfield) – Harvey has a sweet left foot and is always comfortable on the ball.

Sean Stewart (Right Midfield) – Tricky winger, very skillful and quick, Sean is enjoying his first year at u19s and continues to improve his game week by week.

Greg Atkinson (Centre mid/right mid) – Greg has played for the club since the age of 5 and was also involved with Flora’s Soccer School and Inverleith Star. He captained his under 14’s side to two cup finals and promotion in the same season. He was also a part of the Amsterdam Cup squad in 2006.

Jack (Left back/Left Mid) One of our most recent signings, Jack is a keen and willingly learner with bags of skill and tricks.

Lewis Scott (Right mid/Centre mid) – In his first full season with the u19s and has made a promising start. Keen, energetic player, strong in the tackle and always a willing learner.

Bradley Raiker (Centre mid) – Industrious centre midfield, strong in the tackle and quick on the ground, Brad loves his football and is often seen at the Academy honing his skills.


Forwards

Alan Clark (Striker) – Alan signed for Spartans at the start of this season. Before playing for Spartans he spent time at Livingston where he was part of the SFL Youth Cup winning side. He also spent time at Hutchie Vale. Alan also represented Scotland at boys club level in 2008. composed and clinical in front of goal.

Haydn Crane (Striker) – Haydn joined the club from Stirling Albion FC in December 2011. He previously enjoyed spells at Hutchison Vale and Bonnyrigg before signing for the SFL side at the start of the current season. In Haydn’s time  at Hutchie he represented Scotland at boys club level.

Matt Underhill (Striker) – Matt has a keen eye for goal, quick and clinical, he continues to develop his game and is enjoying his first season at u19s.


Management Team

Keith Boyes (Manager) – Boysie previously coached the u15s and this is his second full season with the u19s. Keith also plays for the Spartans Juniors.

Chris Anderson (Assistant Manager) – Chris was previously 19s coach at Gala Fairydean where he also played for their 1st team. He now takes up a similar role with the first team at Spartans.

Douglas Hoskins (Coach/Physio) – Uncle Fester is the life and soul of the squad, is always game for a laugh, but takes his football very seriously. He has more Spartans gear than any other coach at the club.
