Sunday, July 4th, 2010 Fixtures for August and September have been released for the Junior side. The Junior season starts on August 4th with an away tie to Pumpherston in our league cup section. We then play a home game against West Calder on Saturday 7th before playing Junior Superleague giants Linlithgow Rose on Wednesday 11th at the academy. The league cup group continues with an away game vs Armadale on Saturday 14th before our group game against another Superleague team, Newtongrange Star. The match should see an early return to Ainslie Park for Adam Perry who has left the Junior side this summer.
We open our league campaign on August 21st with a game against Edinburgh United in the only Edinburgh derby match in Junior football. We then face a number of away games against Livingston Utd, West Calder and Haddington before a huge match at home against Tranent on September 25th. Tranent finished in third place last season, ending on the same points and only behind us on goal difference. We lost out to the East Lothian side twice last season by just a single goal each time and we will be looking to get more positive results during this campaign.
We have also been drawn away to North District league side Arbroath Vic in the East of Scotland cup first round and will travel to Angus on September 11th.
Season tickets will be valid for all home matches and league cup group matches. Details of all our fixtures can be found on the Junior fixture and results page.
More information on the latest Junior squad news will be available next week.

Spartans Juniors looking for Sponsors
Monday, June 21st, 2010 Spartans Juniors are looking at new ways to raise sponsorship this season. Rather than asking one company to come up with the full cost of sponsoring the teams home kit for next season, we thought we would come up with something slightly different, and have a raffle. We are asking any local (or indeed non local) businesses who are interested to be part of the raffle at the cost of £150 per ticket, the first ticket drawn will be the shirt sponsor for next season. We have ordered new Nike home strips for next season and are only waiting confirmation of the raffle winner. We aim to have circa 20 -30 tickets in the raffle and if anyone is interested in their company participating in our raffle then please contact Stewart Siegel or Cameron Hobbs. As a thank you for your £150, we will send you two season tickets for all Spartans games at Ainslie Park for the season 2010/11.

Cup Final defeats but Girls do better
Monday, May 31st, 2010 Our 19s went down 3 – 1 to Leith Athletic in the final of the Bob Bankier Cup final yesterday afternoon, unfortunately the team have lost 3 finals in 6 days. With the team all eligible to play 19s again next season we’re in a great position as they move up to EoS 19s.The 13s went down 4 – 0 to Tynecastle in the final of the Lothian Buses Cup, getting to the final of a trophy including the teams in the league above was a great achievement for the boys.
The Girls 13s had a better day however beating Murieston 2 – 1 in the Scottish Cup to move through to the last 16.
Finally the Scotland Womens 19s drew 3 – 3 with Italy in their final game last night, the first time we have taken a point in one of the games in the finals. The team will return home from Macedonia with many of the players looking forward to getting back to their 8am start at the Academy each weekday morning for Debbi’s coaching.
Keith McLeod wins East of Scotland Player of the Year award.
Sunday, May 30th, 2010
Last night at the East of Scotland Football Association dinner at Easter Road Keith McLeod won the Premier Division Player of the Year award. Earlier this month managers in the Premier League were asked to name the top three players outwith their own club in the division. Keith made a shortlist of three along with the league’s top scorer Wayne McIntosh of Lothian and our own Kevin Sivewright.
Keith was “delighted to win the award; over the moon in fact but I’m well aware it’s a team game and I’m lucky enough to have the best group of players in the league playing alongside me”.
It’s a well deserved honour for a player who has turned down opportunities to play at a higher level in the past. Spartans are fortunate to have such a talented and loyal striker leading their line.
Keith scored 31 goals in 38 starts and 2 appearances from the bench this season. His career totals are 190 goals in 259 games. Quite a remarkable tally.
