Good wins for both the Seniors and Amateurs as Keith Mcleod notches his 200th goal for Spartans.
Only one change for the Seniors in the starting line up as Omar Kader came in for Donal Henretty on the right wing. Omar the captain for the day on his 200th apearance for Spartans.
For the first 20 minutes we played some superb stuff racing to a 2 – 0 lead. Ross Archibald nodded home the first from a great Dean Hoskins corner after only nine minutes. Gavin Malin scoring the second with a controlled drive from the edge of the box after a Jack Beesley corner was partly cleared. The Uni came into the game as the half progressed but there were few chances created.
It took only ten minutes of the second half for us to score the third. A great move involving Alex King and Gavin saw Omar get to the byeline to cut back for Keith to slot home his 200th competitive goal for the club, a fantastic record and confirming him as the top scorer in the clubs history. To a certain extent the game petered out with little goalmouth action, the Uni denied what looked like a penalty and Omar plus one of the Uni lads booked as the tackles flew in. Scott Livingston came on for his first action in 18 months, a great reward for 18 months very hard work. The Malt and Hops man of the match was very close with Ross and Gavin ahead of the rest, after deliberation it went to Ross for some great defensive cover in the second half.
Team: Flockhart, Archibald, Hoskins (Fowlie 70), Siveright, Townsley, Kader, King (Livingstone 78), Manson, Malin, McLeod (Henretty 62), Beesley Subs not used: McGarrie, Smith.
