Cost of Being the 12th Man Frozen for 11th Season in a Row

Friday, July 3rd, 2015

Our 2014/15 season tickets represented great value for money, with the average cost per home game of just over £2 (and even less than that if you used your ticket to attend all the East of Scotland and Women’s games it is valid for). We’re now looking ahead to season 2015/16,and working to win back our place as Lowland League champions. With Cumbernauld Colts being added to the Lowland League, we will also have an extra league home game this coming season.

The running costs for the club grow larger every year, however, we promised we’d continue to deliver affordable football this year and we are delighted to confirm that season ticket prices will be frozen for the 11th year in a row!

That means adult season tickets for season 2015/16 once again remains £50 and concession tickets are just £25. Plus all under 16s can collect a season ticket for FREE. Free season tickets will also be given to all Spartans youth team players however anyone under the age of 16 can collect their free season ticket at the gate of any of our home games.

We will also once again be handing out free season tickets to all the players of our boys and girls youth sections as we hope the Spartan Army comes out in force like we saw in our Scottish Cup ties last season.

We are also delighted to confirm that once again, to thank fans from all SPFL sides who support Scottish football, we will be offering 50% off to season ticket holders of any SPFL side. We’ll share more information on this incentive soon.

Season tickets are available to buy online now or you can pick one up at Ainslie Park before any of our home games next season starting from our first home pre-season game against Highland League side, Huntly on Saturday 11th July.

Our 2015/16 league campaign starts away to the University of Stirling on Saturday 1st August before our first home game against Preston Athletic on Wednesday 5th August. See our full 2015/16 fixture list

Sammy Snaps Murray Up In A Hurry

Thursday, June 4th, 2015

We are delighted to announce that much sought after Leith Athletic striker Keith Murray is the latest new signing to join Spartans FC.

Keith becomes Manager Dougie Samuel’s 4th new summer signing, he’s absolutely delighted to get his man, “Keith is an exciting young talent, a player we have been tracking for 12 months. We faced stiff competition from a number of other Clubs keen to sign Keith, so naturally I’m delighted that he has chosen to come on board and be a part of our journey. I’m looking forward to working him, to watching him continue to develop and grow as a player. We know next season will be a huge challenge, for me Keith fits the bill in terms of the type of player we need. He’s a player with real potential, has an excellent work ethic and is fuelled by a real desire and hunger to prove himself at a higher level and do well.”

Having scored 30+ goals last season for Leith Athletic, Keith is keen to make his mark in the Lowland League, “I’m delighted to be making the step up to the Lowland League with Spartans. I’d like to thank Derek Riddell and everyone at Leith Athletic for a memorable season. I can’t wait to get started, to test and prove myself at Spartans.”

Greenhill Signs Up

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

Spartans are delighted to announce our latest new signing of the summer. Midfield player David Greenhill has agreed to join the Club, he brings with him a wealth of senior football experience gained from his time at St Johnstone, Clyde, Alloa Athletic, Berwick Rangers and most recently East Stirling.

1st Team Manager Dougie Samuel is pleased to have got another of his summer targets, “David fits the bill in terms of depth and quality of experience, he is someone at his peak right now, hungry to do well. I’m delighted he is coming on board to share his experience and help us to take the club forward as we continue to re-build our squad. I believe he will be a great role model for others in the squad, also our younger players across our E of S and U20 teams. I’m hoping he is someone who can help us to achieve our goals”.

David himself is equally pleased to have made the move, “I’m delighted to have signed for such a professional club that’s going places. Being a local lad I know how much they are involved with and do for the local community, so it would mean a lot to help to get them into the league. I look forward to working with a manager that impressed me a lot and challenging for honours during the season ahead”.

A Ward After The Awards

Sunday, May 31st, 2015

Just the day after our annual Player of the Season Awards night, the Club is delighted to announce we have signed Dan Ward from The University of Edinburgh on a pre-contract agreement for next season.

Head Coach Dougie Samuel is delighted to get his man, “Dan is someone I know well from my time at the University, he is a player I’ve always admired and believed has the ability to perform at a higher level. A Scottish University cap numerous times over, he has a proven pedigree…for me, he’s one of the most under-rated players in the Lowland League”

Dan himself is looking forward to a fresh challenge after 6 years at EUAFC, “It is an exciting time right now to be part of Spartans, and it is something I am very happy to be part of next season. With the Lowland League continually improving in standard I am looking forward to the challenge ahead and to compete for the Lowland League title with Spartans”.

King Cup Final

Saturday, May 30th, 2015

It is not just Falkirk and Inverness Caledonian Thistle fighting it out for a final piece of silverware today as Spartans East of Scotland Side take on Peebles Rovers in the King Cup final.

Taking place at the Edinburgh College Sports Ground, home to Civil Setvice Strollers, the game is just a few minutes walk from Ainslie Park and Manager Alex Cunningam hopes the Spartan Army comes out in force to support his side as they aim to end the season by lifting the cup.

It’ll be a very tough challenge though as Peebles Rovers, who will play in the East of Scotland Premier next season after dominating Division 1, have had a stunning season and it took extra time for the Lowland League Spartans team to beat them in the South Challenge Cup earlier this season. The rejuvinated Rovers are enjoying a fine run of form and hopefully will bring a good crowd of their own from the picturesque borders town of Peebles.

The game kicks off today at 2.30pm
