3rd XI
In his own words “The most aware man in Scottish football” is the main man in the 3’s set up, his entertaining pre match team talks have given the lads some memorable moments another dedicated Spartans man Who’s love for the game cannot be questioned, still Loves nothing more than to pull on the red and white of spartans at any given opportunity. Has established a Ferguson/Kidd Managerial duo With B.Hutton Which hopefully will result in a successful 08/09 Campaign.
Brian Hutton (Assistant manager)
The nicest guy you’re ever likely to meet. Knows every single person in Scottish football after 30+ years of playing for various East of Scotland teams and refers to everyone he meets as either big man or wee man. Still not officially hung up the boots and will no doubt make an appearance at some point during the season to show us young boys how to do it. A dedicated Spartans Man, who is the lifeblood of the 3rd’s squad, enjoys a post match discussion with the gaffer over a Hot Latte.
Ian Murray-Coach
Undoubtedly the signing of the season for any amateur Scottish club, Former Rangers and Norwich Star now into his second spell at Hibernian has agreed to coach the 3rds on a Tuesday night to gain some coaching experience ,the squad can only benefit from the coaching methods of a professional player and his input is greatly appreciated.
Scott Haldane-Goalkeeper
A former 19’s player now into his 4th season has the 3rd’s number one has turned out in almost every match since joining the 3rd’s in 2005 has had more than his fair share of run ins with his teammates and opposition players over the past few seasons due to his passionate and fiery way of playing. Has performed consistently well with the few usual Goalkeeping Gaffes added.
Mark Robertson
Defender, An experienced centre half former 2’s player who gives a calm presence to the defence and put in several sterling performances during season 07/08.
Ross Hutchinson
Defender, has cemented himself has a vital part of the 3rd’s Squad, a versatile defender who also deals with secretary duties for the club, Last seasons ‘Manager’s player of the year’ is one of the most consistent players in the squad.
Stevie Palmer
Defender, another experienced no-nonsense defender who had an excellent start to last season before disappearing. Back again for season 08/09 and will be a vital player.
Glenn Marsters
Defender, former 2’s Star Glen puts a good shift in on the pitch and the training field however does enjoy a Temper tantrum on a regular basis!! Another solid centre half.
Steven Murray(Stish)
Defender/Midfielder, Captain Marvel Stish has consistently been performing well for the 3rd’s in recent seasons which has resulted in him being nominated 3rd’s club captain, a hard working player more suited in midfield who hates a training session!! A respected member of the 3rd’s Squad
Kenny Skivington
Midfield, “Skivy” is one of the most experienced players in the squad who gives his all in every match he plays; now into his twilight years he still has the ability to rile every member of the opposition team with one ridiculous comment.
Chris Smith
Midfield, Chris is a speedy winger who gives the squad a good attacking edge, one of the big personalities in the 3rds Squad and has been one of the vital players in recent seasons, When he’s Fit!!, No longer allowed to be in charge of Kitties on Team Nights out!!!
Neil Mcrae
Midfield, A versatile midfielder who gives his all even though work commitments result in him being posted missing for weeks is still a welcome assist to the squad
Finlay Clark
Striker, Big Target man “Fin” is a former Edinburgh Uni star who likes to think he is the main man in the 3rd’s a reasonable scoring record in recent seasons however has struggled to claim the coveted ‘Player of the year Trophy’, One day Big man One Day!! Just keep Believing!!
Geoff Aberdein
Midfield, now into his second season with the thirds Geoff has made himself a first team regular with the 3rd’s with hard working passionate performances. However at times can be another player who riles not just the opposition squad but his teammates also, will be a vital player this season.

Brian Hawkins
Striker, recently joined from the 2nd team and his pace and goals are going to be a huge asset to the team this year.
Bryan Leslie
Defence/Midfield, returned to the squad this year after a 3 season gap watching the Hibs. Once he returns to full fitness will be a great addition to the squad.
Ian Kirkpatrick (Pies)
Midfield - A recent move to the borders means Pies is no longer a regular at 3rd team games. The quiet man who turns into a wild man once he pulls on the Spartans strip has been one of the 3rd teams greatest personalities. Always threatens to make a comeback but its not materialised to date.
Mark Foster
Thankfully retired at the end of last season but still wanted a mention on the player profiles. A combative left back, claims to have lost his pace and this was the reason for his retirement. Very passionate about his football, and loved nothing more than a good moan over a post match pint. Hopefully will show face throughout the season and is guaranteed to make every team night out for the next 5 seasons.
