SPFL 2: Back to the bread and butter for SpartansThe Spartans get back to SPFL 2 action on Saturday in what will be a busy week for Douglas Samuel’s side as they look to maintain their top four spot in the table. Clyde are next up at Ainslie Park in the third meeting between the sides this season so far. They met on the opening day of the campaign in front of a bumper crowd, with Jamie Dishington earning the hosts a point with our first ever goal in the SPFL. Last time out at New Douglas Park saw Spartans set up the win with a quick fire double whammy with Cammy Russell opening the scoring before an OG created light between the sides. Clyde rallied after the break and Peter Grant’s header set up a nervous end to the clash. Since then, the sides have both had inevitable twists, turns, swings and roundabouts playing roles with their respective campaigns. Sandwiched between a pair of losses against runaway leaders Stenhousemuir, Spartans have had six wins, four of which offering clean sheets in the process. Clyde’s mixed fortunes have included a late comeback to draw 4-4 with Dumbarton whilst against Bonnyrigg, they raced to a 3-0 lead, eventually earning the win despite a spirited Rose comeback. It all makes up for an exciting encounter on Saturday with a pleasant weather forecast on the cards, making for the perfect day for fast flowing dynamic football. Kick-off is at 3.00pm. Cafe/Bar is open from 2pm. Match Programmes on sale at £3. |
