SPFL: Back to the bread and butter at BayviewFresh from their Scottish Cup 3rd Round victory over Championship side Arbroath, The Spartans make the trip across the water to Methil for the latest SPFL 2 showdown, this time in the shape of East Fife. Douglas Samuel will be keen for his men to get back to winning ways after narrow league losses to Stenhousemuir and Peterhead, with the hope of using last weekend’s win against the Red Lichties as a springboard to further build on their current fourth place spot in the table. The hosts involvement in the competition ended with a defeat at Dunbar at the end of October and since then they have picked up an impressive 4-0 win away against Clyde whilst losing to Peterhead, Dumbarton and last time out, being involved in six-goal frenzy away to Bonnyrigg Rose. In the previous clash between the sides, it finished all-square at Ainslie Park with Spartans leading only for the Fifers to comeback to see a share of the spoils come full time. It’s been an exciting week for the Club however for Kevin Waugh, it’s a return to normality on Saturday and a chance to build on positive showings that have impressed the Skipper. “Despite the result against Peterhead, I actually thought that our performance against them was one of the best we’d put in over the previous half dozen weeks or so. I don’t necessarily think we’d should be worried too much about the results, because if we play the way we have done against Peterhead and last week against Arbroath, the results will continue to come. “Again, we probably weren’t at our best against Stenny and were unlucky to lose to a deflected shot and whilst we won at Clyde, we know we can play better. That said, as long as we put in an honest shift and produce good performances, we’ll do well.” And Waugh aims to do just that come 3pm on Saturday in Methil. “I’m looking forward to getting back into League action and put another tick in the win column. Yes, it was fantastic to win in the Scottish last week but the bottom line is that the league is our bread and butter. It’s realistically our best chance of doing something for the club this season. “I know we’ve drawn Hearts in the next round, but the chances of us winning the competition outright – and the Gaffer won’t want to hear me saying it – are probably slimmer than other teams still in the mix! Realistically, it’s no going to happen. But the league is our priority and has been since day one.” Tickets are available online for purchase ahead of Saturday’s match via the following link: https://eastfifefc.info/tickets Prices: £18 Adult > £14 concessions Over 65s/disabled > £5 Under 16s Parent & Child tickets are available from reception on matchday (£21 parent/1 child, £24 parent/2 children).
