Qualifying Cup | Dundonald revisited as Spartans head back to Fife

Posted on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023

The Spartans are in back to back Cup action over the coming days, with a second visit to Cardenden this month where they take on Dundonald Bluebell, this time in the fourth round of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup.

It took 120 minutes and a tense penalty shoot out to separate the sides last time out in the South Challenge Cup at Moorfield Park and the teams lock horns once again for the privilege of setting up a home tie against Jeanfield Swifts in the Quarter Finals.

Since that spot-kick affair at the beginning of the month, Spartans have played and won four games, conceding just once during the quartet of fixtures. Our hosts continue to sit mid-table in the EOS top flight and have won two out of their three recent outings, including recording their biggest win of the season at the weekend, with a 0-7 win on the road at Vale of Leithen.

After a Sunday session against Gretna and Saturday’s South Challenge Cup clash against Stirling University on the horizon, the Gaffer will be keen to ensure his depth of squad and promising young talent are set for what promises to be another close encounter of the Cardenden kind.

Kick-off on Wednesday night is at 7.30pm.
