2022-23 Lowland League fixtures unveiled

Posted on Monday, June 27th, 2022

The Spartans will kick off their Clarke Epos Lowland League 2022-23 campaign on the road with a visit to Broadwood Stadium on Saturday 23rd July for an opening day clash with Open Goal Broomhill.

Then we welcome the full compliment of ‘B Teams’ back to back, with Heart of Midlothian B first up at Ainslie Park then Celtic B visiting the capital. A midweek trip to Dumbarton completes the set as Dougie Samuel’s side face Rangers B.

Other notable dates for the diary include our first North Edinburgh Derby against Strollers on 24th September and a midweek trip across to Fife for our first Lowland League meeting with Cowdenbeath in early October.

Fellow league newcomers Tranent Juniors head to Ainslie Park in November.

A Boxing Day trip to Gala along with a Hogmanay encounter with Strollers also highlights in what promises to be a cracking season ahead.

Manager Dougie Samuel noted, “It’s a tough start away to Open Goal Broomhill who are investing significant monies. Followed by consecutive games vs full time sides, who we know are at their strongest in the first quarter of the season.

“That said, it’s hugely exciting and something to look forward too. There’s no doubt we are going to need a large squad if we are to be successful and achieve our goals. I’m sure Pre season will go up a notch this week now that the fixtures are out.”
