Lowland League : On-form Spartans out to thwart Vale’d threat from Borderers

Posted on Friday, January 14th, 2022

Fourth place Spartans welcome Vale of Leithen to Ainslie Park this Saturday and extend a warm hand of friendship to football fans of the top flight who wish to get their fix before fans head back to the stands of their teams next week.

Undefeated in four league games, Dougie Samuel’s side go into the clash against Grant Sandison’s outfit boosted by the late salvo that earned a point last week against Bonnyrigg.

Since the last time the two teams met, Vale have recorded their first victory of the season, an impressive win on the road against Bo’ness in December.

The visitors sit six points adrift at the foot of the table from Gretna however they have a game in hand and will be keen to pick up another win soon to make it an interesting finale to the season.

When the sides last met in November, it took a late Sean Brown goal to add to Blair Henderson’s opener to finally overcome a stubborn youthful Vale outfit.

As ever, team news sees our old friend Lateral Flow ready to turn negatives into positives on the availability front before the Gaffer can announce his line-up.

Speaking of which, we encourage fans to carry out a test before they head to the ground and if you show any signs of symptoms, take one for the team and kindly stay and home.

Tickets for the game can be bought in advance via Fanbase however you can still pay at the gate.
