Spartans set for cross-border clash with the ClaretsAinslie Park hosts a cross-border double header on Saturday afternoon when The Spartans take on Chelmsford City for the Ronnie Swan Trophy. The Essex side, who ply their trade in the Vanarama National League South, head north for Dougie Samuel side’s final pre-season fixture ahead of next Tuesday’s Lowland League opener against Rangers B. Ahead of the 3pm kick-off between the Senior sides, Les Atkinson’s Under 20s take on the Claret’s Academy side (12.15pm start). This is the tenth time the Ronnie Swan Trophy has been played for, and the third English side to compete for it, following Blyth Spartans (twice) and Liverpool, the last side to lift the silverware in 2019.
