Signing News: Herd heads back to Ainslie Park

The Spartans FC are delighted to see the return of Michael Herd to Ainslie Park following his move from Cowdenbeath.

The 32 year old departed for Central Park in July 2019 to join the Blue Brazil however after two seasons across the water, he returns to North Edinburgh on a pre-contract agreement to become an integral part of Dougie Samuel’s Lowland League squad once again.

Herd led his side to the Lowland League title in 2017/18 and Football Nation Qualifying Cup success the following year and the defender/midfielder is keen to get his hands on further silverware next season.

Speaking of the move, Herd said, “I am personally delighted to get this move done and I can’t thank the gaffer enough for making it an easy decision to return to the club.

“I’m looking forward to getting started and hope to be part of another successful Spartans team.”

Dougie Samuel added, “I’m really thrilled to be able to bring Herdy back to the Club. He’s a player with a proven pedigree who brings genuine quality and an expectation around winning trophies.

“It’s something I hope we can do together again going forward.”
