LATEST NEWS: Euan Smith signs for Spartans

Posted on Monday, April 26th, 2021

The Spartans are delighted to unveil our latest signing ahead of the 2021/22 campaign with the arrival of Euan Smith from Berwick Rangers.

27 year old Smith kicked off this career as a youth level with Hibernian, before spending time on loan at Arbroath.  He then signed for Kilmarnock in August 2014 ahead of being farmed out to Clyde where he gained his first taste of game time in a first-team football environment.

The 6ft 2 midfielder then moved to Brechin City in 2015 which saw him spend four seasons at Glebe Park notching up 112 appearances, netting 3 times.  In June 2019 he moved across the Border to Berwick as they entered the Lowland League and last season he was awarded the skipper’s armband.

Speaking of securing the services of Smith, Spartans gaffer Dougie Samuel said, “I’m really pleased to be able to secure Euan for next season. He’s a good age, has bags of league experience and can play 2/3 different positions.

“It increases the depth and quality in our squad. Genuine competition for places is key if we want to improve on last year and be more competitive again, which is our goal. Signing players in Euan’s age bracket is one of our key objectives this summer.”

The move means Smith will once again team up with Kevin Waugh, who put pen to paper on a pre-contract deal last week.
