League Cup | Semi Final Saturday showdown against Shire

Posted on Friday, May 10th, 2019

The Spartans will be looking to make it a double shot at silverware this season when they take on East Stirlingshire in the Semi Final of the Lowland League Cup at Ainslie Park on Saturday.

It’s been two tight affairs between the sides already this season, with Dougie Samuel’s men holding off a spirited Shire comeback in a seven goal thriller in November, whilst a Blair Atkinson strike earned a point at Falkirk Stadium last month.

Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News, Alan Brown, who recently celebrated his 200th appearance for the Club, noted, ““It’s been a slightly frustrating campaign, but if we can finish it by winning two trophies then that will give us some momentum going into next season.

“That’s what we’re all aiming for, but it won’t be easy against East Stirling because it’s a semi-final so I’m sure they’ll be looking to do likewise. “Both clubs have built up a bit of a rivalry in recent times, but we’ve got a better record and are eager to continue that trend. We’ve been quite fortunate with the draws as this will be our third straight home tie.”

The match kicks-off at 3pm and played to a finish.  Adults £7, Concessions £4, Under 16s Free.
