New Signing: Former age grade Internationalist Aaron Scott signs for SpartansSpartans are delighted to have signed 21 year old central midfielder Aaron Scott until the end of the 2019-20 season. The former Hibs and Hearts Under 20s player has recently returned from the USA where he has been on a Scholarship for last 18 months furthering his studying whilst playing high intensity ‘soccer’. Unfortunately the University Aaron was studying suffered some financial challenges and called the full time whistle on the football team which saw the Edinburgh lad prematurely head back home across the pond. The former Scotland age-grade internationalist may have had his American Dream curtailed for now however his return to the Capital has already thrown up the opportunity to get back on the park and ply his trade with The Spartans. Having played in the closed-door friendly against a Dundee United XI on Monday evening, the talented midfielder said, “When I arrived home I was looking for a club and I spoke to Dougie on Monday night after the game I was delighted to put pen to paper and sign for the Club until the end of next season. “I’m hoping I can help achieve everything that’s within our gift to win and we finish the season strongly – there’s lots still to play for in the league and cup competitions too. It would be fantastic to end the season with silverware and medals round your neck.” Following a season each at Hearts then Hibs, Scott had a spell out in the Gibraltar Premier League with Europa Point before securing his Scholarship at the University of New Mexico. Scott added, “I enjoyed my spell at the University. With no real youth system there, the ‘College soccer’ was a good level to play in, I’d probably compare it to Reserve level here, in fact it was similar to what he was playing whilst at Hibs and Hearts. I feel that I’ve improved over the last 18 months as a result and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in here.” Aaron will go into the squad for Saturday’s GeoSonic Lowland League match against BSC Glasgow.
