Geosonic Lowland League: Spartans first fit familiar foes at Ferguson Park

Posted on Friday, January 4th, 2019

Dougie Samuel’s Spartans will be Whitehill Welfare’s first footers on Saturday and will be looking to leave Rosewell with three points to kick-off 2019 in winning ways.

After closing last year with a derby day draw against North Edinburgh neighbours Civil Service Strollers, and new year sees the opportunity to continue to push to retain the title and become the only club to win it three times.

Welfare have seen some green shoots appear following the appointment of Ian ‘Yano’ Little at the helm.  It what was the original East of Scotland ‘El Classico’, the competitiveness between the two familiar foes remains unrivalled and a dynamic 90 minutes at Ferguson Park is guaranteed.

Jack Nixon and Adam Corbett are now available once again for consideration whilst Harry Girdwood returns to the squad following his loan spell at Craigroyston.  Scott Costello’s loan deal from Brechin has now expired and he has gone back up the road – we’d like to thank Scott for his service at the club.

Admission for the game, which kicks off at 2pm: Adults £6, Concessions £4 and Under 16s Free.
