GeoSonic Lowland League: Derby day perfect way to finish title winning year

Posted on Friday, December 28th, 2018

It’s North Edinburgh Derby Day on Saturday as Spartans welcome Civil Service Strollers to Ainslie Park as the curtain comes down on the GeoSonic Lowland League for 2018.

Going into the derby, the sides sit side-by-side in the table, with a single point separating the teams and a win crucial in the title race.  It’s the first clash between the two this season, with the visitors in Scottish Cup replay action forcing the fixture to be postponed back in September.

Spartans gaffer Dougie Samuel has been handed a festive boost with Blair Tolmie returning to the squad whilst his defensive partner Adam Corbett sweats over a race to be fit ahead of kick-off.  Jack Nixon is unavailable due to work commitments.

On a more positive note, Jack Smith has resumed training on Thursday night after his time on the treatment table.  The striker tweeted together with a smiling emoji, “What a buzz getting to kick a ball tonight.  Been a long 6 weeks.”

The lads will be looking to leave nothing out on the pitch on Saturday.  Mickto the groundsman is hoping so too…

Kick-off 2pm (please note the earlier start).  Admission £7 Adults, £4 Concessions, Under 16s Free.
